Sebastian, one of the driving forces behind Kwali, started his business journey with quality, focused on delivering high-quality products. With Kwali, he entered the e-commerce market, first within the vegan niche, but soon realized that this specific focus was restrictive. Kwali evolved into a brand that stands for a wide range of quality products, ranging from 30 to 40 different items sold on platforms such as Bol.com and via its own WooCommerce webshop. The start of dropshipping from China in 2021 was the first step in a larger adventure that ultimately led to the collaboration with Cargomate (formerly Boloo Forwarding) in 2022. Now using Cargomate for Forwarding & Warehousing, in combination with bol.com as Fulfillment Center.

Logistical Challenges for Quality

Sebastian faced significant challenges before partnering with Boloo Forwarding. The cooperation with Chinese forwarders was anything but transparent; there was no live tracking available, and a series of emails had to be sent for each shipment. This took kwali. easily a few hours per shipment.

The time difference with China and the absence of customs clearance documents, because DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) was purchased, created uncertainty about the status of the shipments and placed quality in the position of importers, often without full insight into the process.

The switch to Cargomate meant an improvement in the logistical process for kwali.. Cargomate's platform has a clear and efficient process that rarely goes wrong. In principle, Sebastian also never has to email, which ensures that Sebastian has peace of mind when it comes to setting up his supply chain. The stated delivery time of 6-7 weeks proved reliable, and after a fyco (physical check), there was minimal delay before the goods were released by customs because Cargomate was tight.

Thanks to the automation that made Boloo Forwarding possible, Sebastian was able to reduce the time it took to manage a shipment to just 10 minutes. Previously, he spent a lot of time comparing quotes, which meant about an hour of work per shipment just to request and compare quotes. Cargomate's rates are online in a calculator, allowing quality to work more efficiently and focus on other things. With 50 shipments per year, the time savings can be calculated quickly.

Sebastian will also use the consolidation services in Ningbo that were launched last March. This allows Sebastian to easily work with suppliers that are spread across China.

Points for improvement

While satisfied with the current services, Sebastian sees room for improvement, such as the implementation of webhooks for an even more streamlined logistics process and a direct link to Bol.com and Woocommerce for automatic product loading. These adjustments would allow them to better understand their inventory management and when to order the products again.
